for several years astronomers have been tell us that there are more than 9 planets. being an old fuddy duddy I generally scoffed at the notion. but there is more evidence that there are several planetiods out there.

Are we really at risk?

I know I personally will not allow my self to worry about this stuff. Worrying is for the people meant to stop it. But I will still wonder if this is a real threat or just propaganda.

Cruel and Unusual

Does potty trainer your kids make you feel guilty as well as frustrated?

My kid does. We've gotten to the point of he will tell me if he has to pee but when the action starts he screams bloody murder. What's going on? I know it doesn't hurt. at least it doesn't hurt when he pee's in his diaper but on the can?

now he won't go no. 2. i'm having to give him milk of mag to get him to poop. man this stuff drives me nuts.

any of you out there have any tips??

on a different note. in this world of parents acting more like caretarkers and less like parents. i've noticed that potty training is one of the only things left that modern parents still hold onto as a must do. granted it's one of those things that's obvious. no one wants a 7 year old who still wears diapers.

Self Banning

It's amazing how week we can be on some things. We took our car to walmart to get the oil changed really didn't need to buy anything so we went to the humane society next door, where we got Aspen the cat two months prior.

Well I found another beautiful cat there. I couldn't help my self. I had planned on getting another cat eventually, just not this week. Willow the cat is now apart of the family now. She has alot more spunk than Aspen, but Aspen's breed - russian blue - are mellow cats. Willow is an American short hair. any who i have to keep them seperated for 7 days so we will see how they react to each other.

SO I have made a self banning on going back to HS any more....

Bob Villa I'm Not

It took me three weeks to replace a bathroom faucet. I think the darn thing was like 20 years old or something. I eventually had to have a friend bring over his saws-all, I couldn't get the darn thing off. man was that annoying.

I now have the kitchen sink to do. hopfully it's not as nasssssty.

His answer

Well we got our answer this week. My wife didn't get any of three job positions. She was pretty upset about it. She's sick of working nights and I don't blame her. But we realized that even though we asked God to not allow her to get the shifts if it wasn't in His will still fully expected my wife to get the job.

We ended up doing what I really didn't want to do in the first place. God is soverign and I will thanks Him for his dicision but we arn't necessarily happy about it. That is still our problem not being content in our situation.

I'm still waiting to hear whether I will get hired on as a real Intel® empoyee or not.

The weird thing is after being here in CO for alomst 8 months I not feeling that grounded here, like maybe God is going to send us else where again. I don't know maybe I'm over reacting.

Time of His will

Ok here's a question for you to digest.

I have a job that doesn't pay much, but could pay well eventually (but there is no certanty). my wife is a nurse working part time nights that she hates. Our goal all along was for her not to work at all. but that isn't going to happen any time soon. with the amount we make right now we can't keep our heads above water. I really don't feel lead to try for other work, my wife supports me is this.

With our situation as it is my wife has a possiblility of going full time days.

She asked me my opinion on it and i was n't sure. this is not how i wanted our family to be. but at the moment we don't seem to have an alternitive.

So here's the long question: Though we are not sure if God wants us to go in the direction of my wife working full time. would it be presumputous to proceed with applying with the job?

we will make the point of asking God to control the situation and let Him determine the outcome.

my thouhgts though somewhat question whether we are forcing God (i'm talking from a human standpoint) to make a decision about our lives rather than letting him bring things to us.

would he allow my wife to get a job she wasn't, though we are trying to live in his providence, supposed to have because we are being impatient?

Am I splitting hairs here? or is this a valid question of His will?

The simple things

It's amazing how some thing as simple as buckling a seat belt can make me so happy. My daughter has finally figured out how to buckler herself in. That mean's I only have to buckle one kid now, not two. It's just like when she was potty trained and could brush her own teeth. Now on to the next kid. He has not been very helpful in these mattes at all....

Modern Polotics

You can tell the author of the article is not a FotF fan. I would like to believe that there is more going on than just this. I don't pretend to know polotics at all. So i can't make a judgement call at all. Did FotF not have much of a choice? Were they mis-informed? Or have they fallen on their face? Questions for more informed people than me.

To deny His image

This is one of my grain of salt warnings as I have no idea of the source or don't know if it's true or not.

Any who the problem with even toying with the idea of trying to mix evolution and God is you try to nomilize God. One of the many of Satan's goals. As our pastor said a couple of weeks ago, we are are not mistakes as evelotion and new age reglions tell. we were created in the image God not a cosmic accident.

It seems like when people sell out like this they use the excuse of trying to draw in people to the church, but really they just trying to fit in rather than live holy.

One for the thumb

Congrats to the Pitt Steelers winning their 5th super bowl. Only 2 other teams (Cowboys, 49ers) have ever won 5.

I've been blessed with two of my three favorite teams winning campionships in my lifetime.

the '01 D-backs are the other. that was an amazing world series. If you missed it, to bad for you.

The Phoenix Suns are my other team. They have been to the finals twice. I really liked the chances of the team they had this year until one of their best players went down with a knee injury that takes almost two years to really recover from. by them steve nash will have lost a step i'm sure.

Death of Mini Giant

It's sad to see things like this happen. Disney is about to buy Pixar, and I can't think of anything worse. There is a reason Disney is doing this. They dont' have a choice. If you haven't noticed they havn't put even a good cartoon in a long time. I'm talking about a disney studios cartoon.

Pixar on the other had is full of very talented people and obviously know what they are doing. Now with this merger all the morons at disney will start trying to push around the pixar people and start making bad movies again.

Why would Pixar do this. Well if you think about it, it makes sense. Good sense for Steve Jobs I mean. Think about what he gains, a large sum of disney stock and a seat on their board. He's already the pres of Apple to boot. Talk about a man of power. He problably couldn't help him self.

Who knows if he really cares about pixar in the first place but the future will tell what will happen.

I really don't know what to make of this.

Has anyone ever heard of this guy or know of his work. I don't even know how I stumbled across it. I personally doubt I have any Isrealite blood in me and this might be lame attempt at trying to dismiss modern day isrealites, as well as try to say that the 144,000 saints in revelation are christians and not jews as some try to say. I really don't know.

CS Lewis and things

My pastor here in CS as been doing a series called "discovering a world of wonder" he's using cs lewis and his works coupled with the passage matthew 18:3 to show the point that as adults we get so wrapped up in reality that the supernatural aspect of God and heaven seem to unreal to be taken seriously. We must become like kids, who can believe in such things as narnia with no problem.

One of hte people who helped shape cs lewis' world is george macdonald. a christian fantasy writer. our pastor had one of these books and read a small portion from the princess and the goblin. basically what it said was that all little girls are pricesses and that though they are princesses they some times forget that they are and just view themselves as being created from mud. Our pastor made an interesting observation from this in that in today's world where new age beliefs are becoming more prevelent and that we, as sons and daughters of God, are no more important than the fly buzzing next to you. Whether george macdonald was purposely writing about that back then or not i dont know but it's a reminder to us that we are part of a royal preisthood that should be taken seriously.

all this teaching on cs lewis has helped reenergize some of my creative juices again. i just hope i can put them to some good use.

Dang Seattle looked good last night. I hadn't realized how good hassleback had gotten. the SB should be a great game. I know Pitts D is better than seattles but seattle's O is much better than Pitts.

So my prognostication is 50-50 for each team.

I'm having a get together for the SB at my friend Bri's house I'll be grilling bbq beef, chicken wings and potatoe wedges as well as some dogs.

though i'll probably be chasing after my kids as much as watching the game as my wife has to work that night.

it's 24-3 Steelers at half time. I know very well that the bronco's can come back but unfortunatly for all you bronco fans you have to put in the plummer factor. I watched him too long in Arizona and know that he'll never win superbowl. I don't hate him it's just that some good and great players will never win. Charles Barkely of the NBA comes to mind.

Steel knots

My steelers are in the AFC championship game today. My gut will be in knots watching it. Funny how things work out. Last year the Steelers were 15-1 but lost to a NE team that was not beatable. this years team was not that great looking and has a 50-50 chance of beating the Bronco's today to go to the superbowl. Neither Seattle nor Carolina are that great either so the Steelers have a good chance of winning a super bowl which they haven't won in what 34 years?

Don't call me Marlin Perkins

we have two family memebers now. a lepeord daneo and a zebra daneo called loren and bob. they are tropical fish. i had promised the kids a fish tank last year but then we started to think of moving to CS. well the kids got enough moola for christmas to afford a fish tank. the lady at petsmart said to only get two fish to start. we will get more fish later as the tank starts up it's own ecosystem.

New addition

I'm pleased to anounce that there is a new Hemschmeyer family member.

Say hi to Aspen the cat.

We got her at the Humane Society and what's really cool is she's a russian blue just like i hoped she would be.

The kids are still very skidish about her and it will take some patience on my part to not get mad at them for being afraid. I'm hoping that this cat will help them get over their fear of animals.

Some time soon as well we will get a fish tank as the kids have wanted one for a while they got enough money for christmas to get one. just hope the cat will not assume the fish is for them.

I'm getting better

My wife went back to AZ for a week and is now back. Last time she did that in Nov. I was sick to my stomach for the whole week.

This time I did much better. Never got sick once. I'm glad I was able to get over it. I was worried.

She's going to be gone next month for a couple of days again as my brother-in-law is getting married and I'll join them later that week.

The tooth

my daughter's first loose tooth have been wigglin for like over a month. My wife informed me that the new tooth was growing in on the inner part of her gums.

Great I said.

I pulled up my boot straps called my daughter over and yanked the old tooth out. She was very brave. Only cried alitte.

Some one had to do it. My wife was not about to. It was still attached enough that it might have taken a couple more weeks to fall out.

She's excited as she got four quarter from under her pillow. Her grandma even made her a tooth pillow.

I was driving back from some where last week when i encountered a car with several anti-bush bumper stickers. one quoted "No one died under Clinton." what a stupid remark. now tell me if'm wrong but didn't late term abortions become more popular under his term? And because of it doctors are botching abortions and allowing babies to be born alive. I saw this article because of Matt's post Entitled 'Gruesome'.

Obviously the bumber sticker was referring to the war. but let's have some true perspecive on this.

jeans of the past

In previous posts I told you I had lost 25 pounds. well because of it my nice jeans are way to big now. I really have to tightent he belt. So i tried on my old pair of jeans and wouldn't you know it perfect. I really hadn't tried them on in over a year or more. what's even more funny, to me any way, is that i didn't toss them when we moved. the waist on thess are 38. that is pretty good seeing how these jeans are over 8 years old. I've had a long relationship with these jeans then i've had with my wife, though i've been more faithul to my wife than the jeans. My wife was the one who pointed out how old the jeans were. Now before I met my wife I weighed about 220. I'm 20 pounds more than that so i'm sure i've stretched the waist line to 40 but still to put on some really old clothes and have them fit is like going back in time or some junk. a cotton worm whole if you will to the past.

great turkey gravy

This is a gravy i had made once and it was spectaculer. First of all my wife and I hate stuffing. so insteado of putting stuffing in the bird. I shoved like 4 whole peeled garlic heads and a whole chopped onion and a couple chopped stalks of celery in the bird. then i rubbed the whole bird with cajun seasons, really coated it. now this cajun seasoning wasn't very hot. but some are, so you can substitute rotisary seasonings as well. but when it was all said and done it was great gravy. Oh i almost forgot. I also had soaked the bird in italian dressing for about 10 hours while defrosting.

it's over

i finally wore pants. last week it was very cold in church. i don't mind wearing shorts if it's going to be cold outside and warm inside but it wasn't. and frankly i got tired of wearing shorts to church. i'm still gonna try and wear shorts every other day but we will see.

Oops

Well it snowed last night. The snow didn't melt on the street either. so you know it's cold out. so cold that a vavle for my sprinkler out side popped. better out side than inside. being a newbe her i kept putting off the winterizing the sprinklers thing. stupid me. any who it looks like it will be an easy fix. thankfully. My wife tells me that as she got home from work this morning the car slid up the drive way, if you can imagine that, almost hitting my car. were not in phoenix any more toto.

Gonna take some time

The weather is still a process of getting used to. Two weeks ago the wind was so bad it knocked down part of the back fence. Weird thing about CS here. All fences are wood. Back in Phoenix there was wood, block and chain link fences. Granted the hille terrain might not allow for block fences but i'm surpirsed that there at least isn't any chain link fences. Oops I'm getting off the subject. Last tuesday it was warm for how it's been. It got over 70. it was actually warm in the house i opened windows. what was it the next day?? by 4pm it was 37 out. that is almost half the tempeture in one day. that was crazy. it's suposed to get to 29 tomarrow as the high. like i've said before though it's all subjective if the sun is out.

X-Bases

I never believed in consperacies until I started watching x-files. Heck I didn't even know what conspiracies were until X-Files. Heck the only reason kept watching was Scully was hot. Any who I'm getting off the subject.

When Boston won the world series it was great for baseball they hadn't won in 80 some odd years. They did the impossible and comeback from 0-3 against the yankees of all teams. No one, at least publically, wanted to say it was contrived. I didn't even think it at all.

Then this year it's the white sox who are in the world series. They came out of no wehre to be a very good team this year. Heck they hadn't won a world series even longer than the red sox. It's the 7th inning of game 4 and the sox are threatening to go 3-0 in the series. And not matter what happened last year it means the series is over. Look what has happened that has my mind doing a Mulder. Look at all the stupid calls that went for the sox in the ALCS. Look at what's going wrong for Houston all of a sudden. Clemens leaves early, Petitte has a cortazone shot in his elboy. Oswalt who was magnificent in game 6, is pathetic by his standards tonight.

HHMMMMM......

Actually the announcers made a good point tonight also that makes me wonder. Oswalt should have been the game one pitcher of the world series but Lidge who had been near perfect all season gives up a huge meatball to Pujols to let the Cards win game 5. Granted Pujols is great, but good closers usually don't mess up.

This of course is all speculation and should be dismissed imidiatly, but mark my words if the stinking Cubs win the world series next year I know I'll be right and will tell all you so.

I hope I'm wrong I don't like the idea of the nation's past time tainted. It makes me ill to think about it.

The next great diet plan

Forget all the new fangled diet plans you've heard of the best weight loss plan has been around for thousands of years. It's called getting sick. In the last 9 monthes I've managed to loss 25 pounds. I was 265 now I'm a svelt 240. At least half of that weight I lost I can attribute to being sick twice in that time period and was able to maintain it. So there you go! Go find one of those stupid co-workers who always call in sick when well and have no sick time for being sick. Go give them a nice big hug and inhale all those calorie burning germs. It's a win win situation. You get to stay home sleep while star wars in playing on the TV (that's what I do, I highly recogmend it) and you loss weight. Now be care full not to get that nasty bird flu. That's pushing the limit abit but you will lose lots of weight I'm sure. Don't come crying to me though if you put he weight right back that's your problem.

Cold times

The thermoter attached to the outside of my sons room say's it 21 degree's out side. WOW that's cold. THe official temp out at the airport says it's 27, but the airport is on the other side of the city and i'm sure i'm at least 150 feet higher than the airport (colorado springs is a city of hills, some of the more expensive houses on the foot of pikes peek are easily 500 feet about the rest of the city). My poor wife is just getting of work at 7am and has to wait for the car to warm up before she can feel any relief. If you remember I said I would only be wearing shorts this winter and at church yesterday only wore a hawiian shirt as well. it was 32 out. Man is that cold. Where was my jacket you moron I told myself. Any who it's cold out now and by the looks of the extended forcast 61 is about the best we will do for awhile. On a good note the guys at work say it always snows on Halloween and I was woried but the forcast says it should be sunny. I'd hate to have snow dumping on my kids heads in their costumes.

What's the Message

I love sci-fi. I admit I'm a trekkie, well not recently. The last two series have been dud's as far as I'm concerned. That's beside the point I'm going to make. I've been watchiing Stargate SG-1, a pretty good show so far. After watching an episode and thinking about all the other sci-fi show's I've seen in the past going back to the original Star Trek a confussing point came to me.

First of all to be a sci-fi show you have to have a humanist worldview. That of course is not earthshattering news. Though what I have found out by watching these show's is that the hero's of these shows have a very high moral standard and will sacrafice themselves to preserve that standard. As I have always known it humanism is amoral and don't believe in any absolutes (can't remember the term for it.) This in it's self is a very selfish worldview. Morality and ethics are vitures from God.

So this the problem in reality these two ideals can not exist. Most people who are humanists pretend to have ethics and morals but in a pinch will problaby do what's best for them selves.

So why is it then all these (I'm not saying all sci-fi shows, if you've ever watched the new Battlestar Galactica they don't have your typical perfect hero's.) shows with huge humanistic dogma's have hero's with such great moral values and yet you know they are not Christians.

We could probably create many reasons why, one for instance is no one like's a self centered hero. Though the 'anti-hero' hero in our culture is gaining popularity.

This is a question I knew I couldn't answer, but just wanted to get it out.

Way to early.

It snowed on monday. It was only October 10th. They predicted it would snow for two days. It only snowed for about 18 hours. Thankfully the ground is still warm and most of the snow was gone by today. Pikes peak is still coated in snow and might stay that way now. We keep the house cool at 64 degree so the pair of wool socks I have are invaluable.

The sign of the grain of salt

As my good friend Matt so kindly pointed out to me about one of my posts, that news stories of today must be taken with a grain of salt. I made sure in an early post to say that but forgot in my haste to make that known. So I need to make sure and put a huge * with all my posts showing stories I get from the web marking the sigh of the grain of salt.

Tainted Authority

This is an article about how the Chatholic Church no longer recognizes the bible as having supreme authority.

I've known this for years but didn't know that it was official doctrine. This has enabled them to really believe anything they want and force it upon their followers.

What really boggles my mind is how the bible, which provides the guidelines for our faith, to them is not correct but the pope, who's posistion is not biblical, is infalable. Go figure.

So this is a religion of man not of God. Further this is just one of many small steps of the Catholic Church to set them selves up as the main ecumenical church of the world. I guess from a strategic human stand point that is a pretty great goal.

2000 years of wilderness wanderings

I was reading Hebrews 3:16-19 today and it talked about how the generation who refused to accept God's ways and perished in the wilderness after 40 years of wandering. But is not Isreal (really all who refuse the grace of God) wandering in a spiritual wilderness, wandering for the last 2000 years. The ancient Isrealites were scared off by some giants, the jews of Jesus' day were scare off by him. Doomed to wander and die the second death until the 144,000 are sealed. 144k is not that many people compared to the amount of jews in the world today. Now that is not to say that many more jews will be saved before the end but the slaughter of jews in the tribulation might make the halocaust look minor in comparison.

Population Crisis

This is an article on the shocking decline of the Russian population. 1.6 abortions is appaling. And those are just the registered abortions.

I have always wondered what would be some of the factors of the Magog invasion into Israel where God will supernaturally save them. In the face of their own self destruction Russia might fell forced to try to expand again.

Now I will say (I might be saying this alot with these kinds of posts) I feel any news articles in this day and age are 50/50 on whether the information is correct or not.

Found Lost Tribe.

This is a story of lost Jews from the Manasseh tribe.

I've also read some where that a lost tribe was also found in Africa as well. Can't remember the tribe though.

These stories are interesting because no other cultures, that I know of any way, that care about lost members of their race more than the Isreallies do. I also find it intersting that this has happned twice in the last year.

First cold day.

The high is only 50 right now at 2pm. I'm wearing shorts and sandels as I took my daughter to school and stood out side for ten minutes. The temp in it's self is ok but dang it that wind was cold. My ears got cold quick which makes me thing about the rest of my body. Can I really do this. Do I want to?

Self Torture

I've always thought people who hurt themselves on purpose need help. Well I realize that I am one of them.

Being from Arizona I used to make and eat hot salsa all the time. But since the move to now cooling Colorado I haven't had any good hot salsa in some time. Well last night my friend went to Whole Food Markets and bought some hot salsa. Boy was it good. We polished off the good bag of chips he bought it probably was like 70/30 in my favor. We were playing Civ3 on a lan.

Well 6 am hits and I think my bowels just got the snot beat out of them and the punk is now standing over me laughing. I'm glad it was my day off or I would have called in sick. Man what torture, it's not like I shouldn't have known better but seriously I was miserable for three hours. I used to be able to eat salsa like that no problem. I swear salsa was originally invented as a interrogation device, but now goof balls like me who are to chicken to bungee jump or parachute have to get my thrills from a hot bowl of pain.

The sad thing is I'll just do it again.....

I'm talking about the cold. I've grown up all my life in Phoenix. Where 100 degrees is a cool day. Here I am almost a whole mile up in Colorado Springs. I don't like wearing pants if I can help it. Shorts for me thank you. I told my wife that I was going to wear shorts for the whole winter.

I always thought I beloged in the desert, it's a dry heat, but I really got tired of it after a while. So now I get to see if I was really made for the cold. I know my wife isn't poor thing.

Thankfully my job lets me wear shorts if I want to. And churches now adays aren't that hung up on attire. So as of Sep 22 start of fall we will count how many days straight I'll wear pants. There are some restrictions that might make me wear pants out of respect (i.e. I have a wedding to be in in Feb) but other than that we will see.

Me being a pansy I doubt I'll last long.
